About Nora Shepley

Nora Shepley One beautiful Brooklyn day in May, Nora Shepley was born. When she was five her family, which included 3 brothers and 1 sister, moved to Yonkers. And it was in there in New York City that she found her artistic ability at the tender age of eight years old - doing water color painting. Her parents were so impressed with her paintings they decided to enroll her in art classes. When Nora became twenty four she moved to Northern New York State seeking to paint the beauty of nature that she found there. So taken was she, that she purchased a house with one hundred and fifty acres where she had the perfect atmosphere in which to devote full time to her love of painting.
It was in 1972 that Nora moved to Hollywood, Florida, where she worked for sixteen years at the Dale Laboratories. Even though Dale Laboratories was in the photo development business, the owner contracted her to paint pictures to decorate the office walls. Nora kept up her love for painting in her personal time and in Florida she was attracted to the art deco style. She spent much of her time in Key West, which in those days was known as the artist colony.

Twenty years later Nora moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. During this period she began painting in oils but later changed to acrylic. What she liked was the brightness of the colors and the quick drying time characteristic of acrylics.

In November, 2009, Nora immigrated to Israel where she currently resides and where she also devotes much of her time to her art. Although Nora loved painting nature, her preference changed to modern and art deco. In particular, she loves to paint the profiles of beautiful women but occasionally paints pictures of animals in nature and caricatures from movies. Recently, Nora started experimenting with oriental art.

Nora’s artwork has been displayed every year in the Annual ESOA Art Exhibition as well as with the Artist Association of Ashklon, where she is a member.
